Why NAEA matters to Heather: Often there is only one or a few art teachers in a school, which can be isolating. I value NAEA because it provides me with an inspiring community of colleagues who share my passion for teaching art and reminds me that there is strength in numbers.
Heather’s tip for art education success: Make your own art! It is a meaningful way to practice self-care, and it strengthens our knowledge as educators. Making art reminds me why I love teaching art, and it is a form of meditation when I get in the flow.
