National Art Education Foundation: Leadership Transitions and October 2, 2023 Deadline for Grant Applications
Column by: F. Robert Sabol, NAEF Chair
As we begin a new year, I want to thank our wonderful group of NAEF Trustees for all they do throughout the year to support NAEF and NAEA members. Our NAEF Trustees review grant proposals and participate in grant panel meetings each year, participate on committees, support fund-raising efforts, and promote the NAEF event that takes place at the NAEA Convention each year. We are grateful that so many former Trustees continue their commitment to NAEF by serving on our Development Committee and by making donations to NAEF.
A heartfelt thank you to our NAEF Trustees: Diane Scully, Past Chair; Cris Guenter, Vice Chair and Chair of the Grants Committee; Robert W. Curtis, Lifetime Trustee; Charles A. Qualley, Lifetime Trustee; Mario Rossero, NAEA Executive Director; Jae Han Bae; Kathryn Hillyer; Frank Juarez; Debra Pylypiw; and James Wells.
Thank you to Linda Kieling, Thomas Knab, and Samantha Melvin, whose terms ended this spring, for their years of service as NAEF Trustees. We look forward to having three new Trustees begin their terms on the NAEF Board this year. Libya Doman; Patricia Franklin; and NAEA Past President, James Haywood Rolling, Jr., are new to the NAEF Board this year.
The next deadline for e-submission of grant applications is Monday, October 2, 2023 (instead of October 1 because it is a Sunday this year). The Wufoo portal will be opening the 3rd week of August, and applications can be submitted until 11:59 pm Eastern Time on October 2. All eligible applicants are encouraged to apply. Please note that all applicants must have been NAEA members as of October 1, 2022, without any lapses in membership through October 1, 2023.
Please go to the NAEF area of the website (see the top banner for NAEF, or type NAEF into the search box) to review the Grant Guidelines Booklet. The links to apply in each category via Wufoo are inserted into the grants booklet where the questions are listed.
This year, we are asking that all applicants upload one PDF file instead of separate files for the proposal and support materials. Please make sure to follow the instructions for creating the PDF file and uploading it to http://www.wufoo.com using the links in the NAEF Grant Guidelines Booklet.
Plans will soon be underway for the 13th Annual NAEF Benefit Event in Minneapolis. We hope you will make plans to join us! We are grateful to the many NAEA members who donate to NAEF each year. Donations of all sizes are genuinely appreciated! NAEF is now in its 38th year, and we wouldn’t be successful without our hundreds of donors. Please consider making a donation to NAEF at any time throughout the year. http://www.arteducators.org/opportunities/national-art-education-foundation.
