Entering Into Fall 2023

Preservice members,
Back to school is kicking in with a new semester or the beginning of your journey as art educators. For those of you who are just starting, welcome to an enriching career. For those of you continuing your education, keep going. You got this!

As you start your back-to-school season, I want to remind you of the support we have for you at NAEA. Our website offers many different ways to connect and read up on current research in our field. There are places to tailor your findings specifically to preservice or hone in on specialty areas you are considering. Be sure to use the NAEA website as a vital tool in your tool belt. Very shortly, the Preservice Division will use it for more communication with you as members and rely on the Instagram page for contact. Instagram is: @preservice.naea

Starting your journey into your new semester, we want to remind you to take a deep breath and ensure you care for yourself. Things can be crazy, and your plate will fill with responsibilities and life things—but remember to always make time for yourself. You cannot pour from an empty glass, so do something for yourself that fills your glass.

Building Our Community

There are going to be some things developing and changing with our Division. We would love input from our members. It can be anything from thoughts you have for our Division, what you need, or what you look forward to having, to how we can support you. We created a living Google Doc at the Convention to share classroom resources! Join Our Team

Have you been looking for a way to be a part of more than just the NAEA Conventions? Are you new to NAEA and looking for ways to get involved? Do you need something to boost your resume? Then we are here for you!

Our team is looking for Regional Representatives for Eastern, Southeastern, Western, and Pacific! Regional Reps are involved in Convention planning, creating and proposing our sessions, presenting sessions, outreach to preservice members in their Regions, social media, and so much more! This is another excellent way to network in and out of our Division. This is a 2-year commitment, including monthly online meetings as a team. The responsibilities you are given will not only help set your resume apart from other job-searching Preservice members, but you will also have so many unique experiences you can reflect on in your teaching!
